New Zealand Diploma in Health & Wellbeing (Level 5)
Applied PracticeAgeing and Disability Support
A one-year diploma, approved by NZQA, that trains you to support older people and people with disabilities. You learn in class three days a week, then put it into practice on a 15-week clinical placement.
Every institute that teaches this diploma is approved by NZQA, New Zealand's qualifications authority.

What you need to show, answered straight.
- NZD 20,000
- Living costs for each year of study. This is Immigration New Zealand's rule, not ours.
- 1 year of tuition
- Paid to your institute. It depends on the institute and the city. We show you real fees for each option.
- A ticket home
- Money for a flight out of New Zealand, on top of your living costs.
- 3 to 6 months
- Of normal bank history. Sudden large deposits raise questions, so we check your statements early.
Sponsors are usually parents or other close family. We check your sponsor documents before you apply.

Is this diploma really recognised?
Yes. It's an official New Zealand qualification at Level 5, and every institute that teaches it is approved by NZQA, the government body that checks qualifications.
Can you guarantee my visa?

Can I work while I study?
Yes. Student visas allow up to 25 hours of work a week in term time, and full time in scheduled holidays. Your visa shows your exact conditions.
How much money do we need to show?
A year of tuition, NZD 20,000 for living costs, and money for a ticket home. We check your bank statements before you apply, so there are no surprises.
Does this diploma lead to residence?
It can be one step on that road, but it's not a promise. Some care jobs have a residence pathway after 24 months of work at the required pay rate. Rules change, so your adviser checks what applies to you.
